Dr. Mortiere is a New York State Licensed Psychologist with a Doctorate and Master’s in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy, as well as a Master’s in Criminology from Eastern Michigan University.  She has been in private practice in forensic and clinical psychology for over 17 years in New York City and has extensive training and experience in treating mild to severe disorders, as well as other specialties listed below. Her current faculty appointment is in the College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, at NYU.

Dr. Mortiere works with a diverse population of varied age-groups, ethnic backgrounds, gender and sexualities. She believes in accepting people where they are in their lives while working to resolve conflict that may interfere with their functioning and/or happiness. While analytically trained, Dr. Mortiere utilizes supportive, insight-oriented therapy. She also applies techniques appropriate to the needs of a patient and that research has proven to be helpful, e.g., CBT, DBT, EFT and NET. Her approach is influenced by the Eastern philosophy, such as the use of mindfulness techniques and meditation, as well as other alternative therapeutic techniques.

SERVICES

The majority of services are now offered through telepsychology due to the COVID-19 crisis.

Forensic Services include forensic examination, consultation and expert testimony relating to dangerousness, competency, capacity, trauma and other questions that are before the court.

Clinical Services include the identification and treatment of emotional, psychiatric and behavioral issues interfering individual functioning and/or sense of well-being. Treatment offered includes individual and family psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, psychometric testing, other patient-focused treatment and preoperative examination for elective surgery.
